8 COMMON PLUMBING PROBLEMS FOUND IN YOUR HOUSEHOLD

Have you or a loved one recently fallen victim from any of these plumbing problems? Don’t suffer anymore – call your trusty friends at Clarksburg Plumbing today.

Being in the field I’ve seen plumbing problems that vary from big to small, but I’ve always wondered what the most common problems our customers faced were. I’ve decided to generate a list of what our Clarksburg technicians most commonly see in the homes they serve.

  • Dripping Faucets: The dreaded drip is something every homeowner has faced and most likely ignored in their time (GUILTY). Did you know roughly 157 gallons of water is wasted each year due to a slow leak of 3 drops a minute? 3 DROPS A MINUTE, PEOPLE! Wasting water and money on your water bill is never a good look.

  • Leaky Pipes: Leaking pipes begin near the joints, so keep an eye out for wet spots on the ground or ceiling. Water damage is no joke so avoid the costly repairs and fix them right away.

  • Running Toilets: If I’ve learned anything in the 28 years I’ve been on this earth it’s DON’T IGNORE YOUR RUNNING TOILET! DON’T DO IT! I didn’t know before I wrote this blog, but a running toilet can waste up to 200 gallons per day (I’m ashamed……)

  • Low Water Pressure: There can be several reasons for low water pressure – old shower head, undiscovered leak, corrosion in your pipes. Either way having low water pressure can be frustrating.

  • Leaking Hose Bibb: First things first – Maryland winters can be B-R-U-T-A-L so most hose bibbs that are not protected can crack and begin to leak. Our recommendation is get a frost-proof hose bibb – it will seriously reduce your chances of having future leaks.

  • Slow or clogged drains: I’m not saying this is the most common problem for everyone, but this is my most common problem. Every other month I’m unclogging the bathroom sink or shower. At this point I should be qualified to snake drains professionally.

  • Sump pump failure: Heavy storms can cause your sump pump to run overtime, so it’s important to perform routine maintenance so your system doesn’t fail. Testing your system every 2-3 months, especially during prolonged rainy periods, is a good way to ensure the longevity of your system.

  • Water Heater: The thought of taking a cold shower is my worst nightmare. If the water isn’t melting your flesh off are you even taking a shower properly? Did you know the average life of a water heater can be anywhere from 8 to 12 years depending on maintenance. So take care of that baby.
