Repair or replacement
The basics

The line that brings your water in

Your water line carries fresh water from the city main or your well into the house. When it leaks or breaks underground, you might see low pressure, wet or sunken spots in the yard, discolored water, or a spike in your bill, and sometimes no water at all. We pinpoint the problem first, then repair the bad section or replace the line, using traditional excavation or trenchless methods that spare your yard and driveway.

Pinpoint the problem, fix it right, and put your yard back together.

We use leak detection to find the exact spot and depth, so we dig only where needed.

2

Honest estimate

We lay out repair versus replacement with upfront, flat pricing before any work starts.

4

Restore the site

We backfill, compact, and restore the area as close to how we found it as possible.

Catch it early

Signs of a failing water line

Water line problems waste water and money and only get worse. Spot these early for more, cheaper options.

Low or dropping water pressure

Weak flow throughout the house can mean a leak or restriction in the main water line.

Soggy or sunken spots in the yard

Wet patches, extra-green grass, or sinkholes over the line often mean a leak underground.

A spike in your water bill

A sudden jump with no change in use usually means water is escaping from the line.

Discolored or rusty water

Brown or rusty water can signal a corroding or failing line, common in older pipe.

No water at all

A full loss of water points to a major break or a failed main or service line.

Old or undersized pipe

Aging galvanized, poly, or undersized lines crack, corrode, and restrict flow over time.

Low pressure or a soggy yard? Let's find the line.

What we find

Why water lines fail

Water lines do not last forever. Most failures we see come from corrosion in older galvanized or copper pipe, ground that shifts and settles, freeze damage in harsh winters, and aging poly or undersized lines that crack under pressure. We confirm the cause before we dig.

  • Corrosion in galvanized and older copper pipe
  • Cracks from shifting soil and settling
  • Freeze damage during Maryland winters
  • Aging poly and undersized service lines
Built for Maryland homes

Why this matters here

Many homes around Clarksburg, Damascus, and Montgomery County still run on aging galvanized or poly water lines, and our freeze-thaw winters are hard on buried pipe. Whether you are on WSSC water or a private well line, a failing line wastes water and money, so we locate it precisely and fix it right.

  • Watch for pressure drops and unexplained bill spikes
  • Know your pipe material, especially in older homes
  • Insulate exposed lines before freezing weather
  • Ask about trenchless to save your yard and driveway
Less digging

Ask about trenchless

For many water lines we can replace with little or no digging. See how it works on our trenchless page.

Absolute best plumbers I have ever used. Needed them a few times recently and each time they were so professional, kind and resolved each problem the first time around. This last issue took them several hours to fix. They explained everything along the way and gave a very fair price for a lot of work. They also work very cleanly! I will never use another plumber!

I needed a water valve installed for my new fridge and a new faucet installed in upstairs bathroom. Seth was amazing. He came out and really listened to me and my concerns. We even called the company that was going to deliver my new fridge so he would have a better understanding of what he needed to do his job. It made me feel at ease with the whole process. He is even coming back later in the week to install new fridge once it’s delivered. I will absolutely call them again.

We had a pinhole leak suddenly appear in our outdoor hose bib, and Clarksburg Plumbing was able to provide next-day service, which we really appreciated. Our technician, John Brown, arrived right on time after giving us a 30-minute courtesy call. John quickly diagnosed the problem, explained everything clearly, and provided an accurate assessment of what needed to be done. He completed the repair in under two hours, and the quality of his work was excellent. Before leaving, he even took the time to share some helpful tips on how to prevent similar issues in the future. John was friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and efficient from start to finish. We couldn’t have asked for a better service experience. I highly recommend Clarksburg Plumbing and especially John Brown for anyone needing reliable, high-quality plumbing work.

Cris and Franklin from Clarksburg Plumbing did incredible work at our home fixing an underground water service leak. They encountered complications but went to plan B efficiently and skillfully and got the job done well and in a timely manner. They also answered all our questions patiently and taught us a lot of why they made the decisions they made. Water line FAQ

What homeowners and businesses ask us most about water line repair and replacement.

Common signs are a drop in water pressure, an unexplained spike in your water bill, soggy or unusually green patches in the yard, discolored water, or hearing water running when nothing is on. We use leak detection to confirm and pinpoint it.

A single break or leak in an otherwise sound line can be spot repaired. If the line is old galvanized or poly, corroded throughout, or has repeated failures, replacement is the better long-term value. We show you the findings and the honest math.

Not usually. We locate the problem precisely so we dig only where needed, and for many water lines we offer trenchless replacement that requires little or no digging.

Traditional replacement excavates a trench to reach the line. Trenchless pulls a new line through with one or two small access points, sparing your driveway and landscaping. We offer both and recommend what fits your property.

Yes. We handle water line repair and replacement for businesses, rentals, and multi-unit properties, with minimal disruption to your operations.

A properly installed modern water line can last 50 years or more. We use durable materials and proper bedding so the repair outlasts the problem.

We serve Clarksburg, Germantown, Gaithersburg, Rockville, Damascus, Potomac, North Bethesda, and the surrounding Montgomery and Frederick County area.
