Plumbing built for how Gaithersburg actually lives

Gaithersburg is one of Montgomery County’s oldest and largest cities, and it has just about every kind of home under one name. There is the historic core of Olde Towne near the old B&O railroad station, the sprawling planned community of Montgomery Village, the walkable New Urbanist streets of Kentlands and Lakelands, and brand-new mixed-use living at Crown and Rio Lakefront, all strung along the I-270 life-sciences corridor.

Almost all of Gaithersburg is on WSSC public water and sewer, so the plumbing here is less about wells and more about age and density: original supply lines in Olde Towne, fifty-year-old systems in Montgomery Village, 1990s fixtures and water heaters in Kentlands and Lakelands reaching the end of their life, and the shared stacks and shutoffs of townhomes and condos. We know every one of these situations, because we work in them every week.

What we see here

Common plumbing issues in Gaithersburg homes

The age and type of your home tells us a lot about what is likely going on.

1

Aging supply pipes

Older Olde Towne homes and 50-year-old Montgomery Village systems often have original galvanized or polybutylene lines due for repiping.

2

End-of-life heaters & fixtures

Kentlands and Lakelands homes from the 1990s are now hitting the age where water heaters, valves, and faucets start giving out.

3

Townhome & condo plumbing

Around Crown, Rio, and the Village, shared stacks, tricky shutoffs, and high-rise pressure call for a plumber who knows the setup.

4

Hard water & scale

Like the rest of the county, Gaithersburg water leaves scale that shortens the life of heaters and fixtures.

Katie and the Clarksburg Plumbing team were phenomenal. Katie came highly recommended, and it could not have been a better choice. During an emergency plumbing issue at one of the buildings we service, her team came right out and made it happen. It was a complicated situation, but they handled it from start to finish with great responsiveness, professionalism, and patience throughout the entire process. We greatly appreciate their help and highly recommend them.

The plumber from Clarksburg Plumbing who worked on my broken gas hot water heater was John Brown. John is an amazing plumber. He is extremely energetic, very efficient, has amazing knowledge about plumbing, and is very honest. He is also very friendly, considerate, and took the time to answer all my questions. He diagnosed the problem quickly (which was a defective burner assembly). Then when I showed him the manufacturer's warranty, he took the initiative to immediately call the manufacturer and order all the necessary parts (which were free under the warranty). When the parts were delivered, he made sure to show up the next day and install the parts. As we talked throughout his time in the house, I could see that he has very deep knowledge of plumbing, which gives me confidence that his work is top quality. I also had a problem with very high water pressure in the house. The pressure regulator had to be replaced. John, working with Maddie, did a great job in fixing that as well. After the work, everything was cleaned up completely.

Highly recommend John Brown from Clarksburg Plumbing LLC! Yesterday John flushed and descaled our tankless water heater. We've gotten used to waiting and waiting for service people. That's not the case with John. He arrived pleasantly early for both the initial visit (for a no-cost estimate) and for the actual service call. He was personable, knowledgeable, and very patient with our many questions. He really helped us understand the ins and outs of this new-to-us technology of tankless water heaters. We're already recommending him to our neighbors!

I recently used Clarksburg Plumbing for a condo repair of my main water turnoff valve and my outside hose bib. It required coordination with DC Water and the condo, and Clarksburg was extremely helpful, professional, and patient in the process. They came out a few times to evaluate and troubleshoot the issues, and then ultimately performed/made the repairs. Garrett and John Brown were the first to help, both very kind, knowledgable and highly skilled, and then Pablo (along with apprentice Tevon) made the final repairs. Not only did they do a great job, explaining everything to me in the process and checking after the water was restored to the condo, they also helped out one of the other owners that was having a sudden, luckily minor issue, as well. It’s a relief to know that I finally have a plumbing company that I can rely on for any future issues.

We had a fire at our house 3-Jul-2025. Our contractor used Clarksburg Plumbing for all of our plumbing needs as we rebuilt our house. Pablo was with us from the beginning until all work on the house was completed a year later. Pablo was the lead plumber from Clarksburg Plumbing. He worked on the plumbing rough-in in December through February this past winter in bitter cold through the end of July 2026 when work was finally completed. Pablo quietly does his work. It’s clear that he is very skilled but he is not arrogant in any way. Rather, he is very engaging, takes suggestions under consideration and employs them as warranted, and is always kind even when I interrupt his work. Pablo represents Clarksburg Plumbing very well. It was my pleasure working with Pablo.

Properly identified the source of my leak after multiple other plumbers/companies couldn’t figure it out. Were thorough in explaining what they were doing, how they arrived to their determination, and gave advice on how to proceed with next steps that were outside their scope of operations. Thanks Pablo and Tevon

We had a severe blockage in our kitchen sink drain, causing water to back up into both the sink and the dishwasher. Seth and Brady arrived on time, quickly identified the issue, and did an excellent job clearing the kitchen drain. They also fixed the dishwasher drain line, which is now working perfectly. They were professional, efficient, and courteous throughout the process. I highly recommend them to anyone needing plumbing services.

Good questions

Gaithersburg plumbing FAQ

What your Gaithersburg neighbors ask us most.

Yes, all the time. We are based right next door in Clarksburg, a short trip up I-270, so we cover all of Gaithersburg and usually reach it fast, and we are available 24/7 for emergencies.

All of them, including Olde Towne, Montgomery Village, Kentlands, Lakelands, Crown, Rio Lakefront, Quince Orchard, Diamond Farms, Flower Hill, Saybrooke, and out to Washington Grove, from 20877 to 20886.

Not always, but many older Olde Towne homes and 50-year-old Montgomery Village systems still have original galvanized or polybutylene lines. We can inspect your pipes and tell you honestly whether a repair or a full repipe makes sense.

Absolutely. We work in Gaithersburg’s townhomes and condos constantly, including the newer buildings at Crown and Rio, so we know how to deal with shared stacks, hidden shutoffs, and high-rise water pressure.

Because we are just up the road in Clarksburg, we can usually reach most Gaithersburg homes the same day, and faster for true emergencies. A real neighbor answers 24/7 and gets a stocked truck headed your way. The same crews run our plumber in Frederick, MD coverage further up I-270.

Everything: drain cleaning, water heaters and tankless, sewer and water line repair and replacement, repiping, sump pumps, water filtration, gas lines, fixtures, and 24/7 emergency service.
